Man resembling Santa charged with drug crimes

Drug arrests in Orlando can sometimes be unique in their circumstances and involve those who might not appear to have the prevailing characteristics of those who are involved in the sale of drugs. Often, a drug arrest is made and charges are filed when there is a logical explanation for what happened or the charges are without merit. This is when it is imperative to have legal help. No matter the circumstances, when a person was placed under arrest for drug crimes, having legal assistance can help to reduce charges and possibly be acquitted.

A 58-year-old man was placed under arrest on multiple drug charges. The man is said to bear an odd resemblance to Santa Claus. The arrest was related to six outstanding warrants linked to selling cocaine. According to law enforcement, the man had sold cocaine to an undercover officer six times in February and March. The sales were allegedly made within 1,000 feet of a place of worship as part of those six counts. In addition, he faces four counts of the use of facilitating a felony by using a two-way communication device.

Since drug offenses can run the gamut between low-level and significant, so too do the potential punishments range in severity. Regardless, a drug arrest can present a major problem for the person for an extended period. There can be hefty fines, incarceration, probation and other serious consequences. This can negatively impact the ability to be admitted to a school, get a job, and exercise certain rights that might be taken for granted and will be lost after the drug conviction. There are numerous ways in which the evidence in a drug arrest could be called into question. The investigation might not have been conducted legally, law enforcement made clerical mistakes with the charges, the suspect's rights might have been violated and more. It is key that all evidence be assessed and the entire situation be examined as the case moves forward.

In this case, a man's arrest has drawn attention because he looks like Santa Claus. This can obscure the elements of it with him confronted with felony charges. Given that he was charged with crimes related to the sale of cocaine, an immediate legal defense is a must. For that, he should contact an attorney experienced in assisting clients with drug offenses as soon as possible.
